I was driving down the road yesterday on the way to walk with a friend in poetry, listening to John Taggart's Rothko Chapel reading, 10.25.2012 at Rothko Chapel (07:30), which since my sabbatical I listen to occasionally because it soothes me.
Taggart opens the reading with this quote from Walter J. Ong—
My voice really goes out of me. But it calls not to something outside, but to the inwardness of another. It is a call of one interior through an exterior to another interior.
The Presence of the Word
It is a call of one interior through an exterior to another interior. that last line.
it's like an instant poe/try manifesto, I thought—
and then that it feels like that's what Layli (LongSoldier) is doing in/with her art and writing.
