commitment
I attended an online Upaya event on Sunday—part of The Measure of Our Humanity—with Rebecca Solnit, Cynthia Figueres, and Roshi Joan Halifax. Halifax ended with these precepts attributed, if I heard correctly, to Cynda Hylton Rushton of Johns Hopkins.
these reflect a lot of reading, listening, and thinking I've been doing about the year behind us and the year ahead—how to meet this moment; where to focus heart, mind, and body; how to refuse a status quo of hate, lies, cruelty, and chaos. I find them helpful. maybe you will too.

I know what I stand for.
I live in my values.
I value to discover what will serve.
I ask the hard questions.
I speak out for what I stand for.
I listen to the call of conscience.
I am courageous, despite risks.
I take principled action.
I am responsible and accountable.
